Minot is located in the north central part of North Dakota, and 40 miles from the Canadian border. Minot has a population of 32,000 in addition to the 18,000 at the Minot Air Force Base located 13 miles from town. Our city is quite busy for a small town. Minot is the official site of the North Dakota State Fair, the Norsk Hostfest, which is a Scandinavian heritage festival and draws people from several foreign countries. We also boast being host to Minot State University, a 300-member Dakota Cruisers car club, the Nodak Race Club, which has been around for 53 years and is the oldest club of its kind in the nation. Motor Magic is a four-day motor sports event held on the North Dakota State Fair grounds during Labor Day weekend, and many other events.
